3D audio concert of All:y:Ears serie 2022 (november 11.)
Lara Alarcon (ARG) - amplified voice
Evi Filippou (GR) - Vibraphon and percussion
Robert Lucaciu (D) - Bass
The trio Ca$$andra (vibraphone / percussion, bass, voice) performs a freely improvised set, which can always be found in more solid structures. The improvisation is in dialogue with the live electronics of Paul Hauptmeier, who processes the instrumental sounds and spatializes them on the 3D sound system of the ZiMMT.
Lara Alarcón is a vocalist, composer and improviser from Argentina, living in Berlin. Her performances/compositions implement the idea of prosthetic dialectics by the use and support of large amplifications, pedals, noise devices and other sonic complexities, with some extending to live video, live coding and electroacoustic formats like electric trio, strings, and solo performances. Her music engages the listener in an intense way by her restless stage presence, andstrong changes in dynamics.
She performs in free improvisational settings with musicians from different countries and aesthetics. Her strong project is her solo VQ, with which she has toured irl and online, Southamerica and Europe. She also co-founded and runs the label and concert series Numeral or Neue Numeral devoted to promoting and connecting artists in the edgy field of experimental and improvised music.
Evi Filippou (*1993) started playing the drums at the age of 7. She graduated from the Volos Conservatory with a scholarship from the Athens Concert Hall and moved to Berlin in 2011, where she continued her Bachelor's and then Master's studies at the Hochschule für Musik "Ηanns Eisler" (BA and MA degrees with distinction). Along the way Evi took jazz vibraphone lessons with Harald Kündgen.
Her professional experience includes participation in orchestras and chamber music ensembles (e.g. Bolshoi Ballet Orchestra, Ensemble United Berlin) as well as solo performances of classical and improvised music and duo collaborations ("ff duet" with Katerina Fotinaki, "blowslap" duo with saxophonist Hayden Chisholm). Also active in the jazz scene, Filippou has collaborated with Chris Dahlgren, Arne Braun, Elias Stemeseder, Uli Kempendorff, Angelika Niescier, among others.
Evi is also part of the Nim Dance Company of the Austrian choreographer Naima Mazic.
Evi performs her own music and arrangements with her project inEvitable.
Music theatre also makes up a large part of her artistic life (founding member of the "Opera Lab Berlin" ensemble). She participates in numerous music theatre productions (including at the Neue Werkstatt of the Staatsoper Berlin, Rimini Protokoll, Hauen und Stechen Musiktheater Kollektiv).
Since 2016, Evi has also been a lecturer in Berlin primary schools funded by "Vincentino e.V. - Kultur stärkt Kinder in Berlin".
Constantly engaged in the coexistence of composition and improvisation, precision and authentic personal expression, Evi lives and practices in Berlin.
Robert Lucaciu is a musician, composer and teacher from Leipzig. His versatile work in the European jazz and improvised music scene is recorded on over 20 recordings. At the age of 7 he began to play the violoncello - which he has not given up to this day - but 8 years later he became addicted to the contrabass and its expressive possibilities in improvised music.
In the following year, Robert Lucaciu became a student at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theatre. He went on to study contrabass (jazz and classical) and composition at the universities of Leipzig and Dresden.
As a sought-after sideman, Robert Lucaciu has played in over thirty countries on all continents of the world.
For more than ten years Robert Lucaciu has been teaching contrabass, violoncello and conceived improvisation at the Musikschule Neue Musik Leipzig. Since 2018 he is holding an professorship for jazz contrabass at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover.
