Cucina povera is Finnish-Luxembourgish sound artist Maria Rossi. Cucina povera started out as a project around precarity and nourishment. It has evolved to encompass many moods and hues but it still starts out from the same principles of restriction and care.
Impressed by Tod Dockstader’s Water Music, a technique that uses “everything and the kitchen sink,” I’m interested in exploring water based field recordings, placed together with long form song. Always taking as starting point folk singing, I’m also since the beginning also drawn to the juncture of song and water, the oldest of ointments. With spatial placement these two elements will sit with each other in lively and deeply healing ways.
Soundscapes & Beats
Stephan Kloss and Jakob Gruhl met in 1999 through hip hop projects. Since then, they share an interest in electronic music. In connection with the Mazetools project, they have been conducting practical research in the border area of music, art and technology since 2013. Their latest musical works are closely related to the development process. The spatial av performance changes from soundscapes to experimental beats.
