Die Modyssey-Performance überträgt eine VR-Welt in den physischen Raum als audiovisuelle Motion-Tracking-Performance. Die Künstlerin Mia Gara erzählt die Geschichte eines kosmischen Zyklus: Die kompositorische Kombination aus räumlichen Soundscapes, Beats und Rap unterliegt der Dynamik ihres Tanzes durch Motion Tracking. Mia Gara korrespondiert multisensual, ihre Gesten und Bewegungen werden zum Medium und verwandeln die individuelle VR-Erfahrung in ein kollektives Konzerterlebnis.

Ausgangspunkt des Projekts ist die von Ectoplastic produzierte und entwickelte VR Experience “Modyssey – A Geometric Poem”. Sie wird von der Mitteldeutschen Medienförderung und der Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt gefördert und soll im Frühjahr 2023 auf Steam veröffentlicht werden. Auch das Backend dahinter stammt von Ectoplastic: Unter dem Namen Mazetools erforscht und entwickelt das Team seit mehr als 10 Jahren eine eigene Musiksoftware, die neue Ansätze für kreative Prozesse mit innovativen Technologien verbindet.

The Modyssey performance transfers a VR world into physical space as an audiovisual motion tracking performance. Artist Mia Gara tells the story of a cosmic cycle.The compositional combination of spatial soundscapes, beats and rap is subject to the dynamics of her dance through motion tracking. Mia Gara corresponds multisensually, her gestures and movements become the medium and transform the individual VR experience into a collective concert experience.

The starting point of the project is the VR Experience “Modyssey – A Geometric Poem” produced and developed by Ectoplastic (funded by Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt), which will be released on Steam in spring 2023. The backend behind it also comes from Ectoplastic: under the name Mazetools, the team has been researching and developing its own music software for more than 10 years, combining new approaches to creative processes with innovative technologies.
