Gl0tchbl0K is an installative GlitchGameHall that allows experiencing video games from a different perspective.
LAST YEAR'S GAME MACHINE BECOMES A GLITCH MACHINE
Using a sensor field with 64 individual fields, the graphics and sounds of a modified Playstation 2 can be aesthetically shredded.
PERFORMATIVE HARDWARE
The audience gets the possibility to shape video games into completely new audiovisual experiences with this glitch palette, to shred them to complete abstraction.
STIMULUS FLOOT
You control the de- and reconstruction of an incessantly changing maelstrom of flickering colors and impossible shapes, embedded in a 360° sound installation.
"I modified a Playstation 2 to use it as a kind of audiovisual synthesizer. Short-circuiting internal data lines allows me to widely disrupt game graphics and sounds. The flow of the programs is not disturbed, the games continue to function, while the image and sound can be disassembled beyond recognition. Since the games handle the hardware differently, the possible effects also differ profoundly from game to game, allowing me to use the device to create an almost infinite wealth of abstract visual worlds." The media artist Simon Schäfer from Leipzig is mostly engaged in experimental electronics and circuit bending. For Gl0tchbl0K he has modified a Playstation 2 with 64 sensor fields in such a way that the audience can shred and glitch the graphics and sounds of the respective video games, thus creating a completely new audiovisual abstraction.
