Judith Crasser & Viti-Ko Lilja Schell
For their first joint collaboration, Leipzig-based artists Judith Crasser and Viti-Ko Lilja Schell composed a multi-instrumental piece for the 3D audio system at ZiMMT, exploring the potentials of acoustic spatiality and spatial perception. Crasser’s sound syntheses, vocal experiments, and electro-acoustic elements meet Schell’s fragments of pop and punk music. In their creative approach, the artists share the everyday practice of recording and collecting sounds and draw from a broad sound archive to open dynamic, sonically and emotionally rich spaces.
Crasser and Schell both come from a background in visual arts and have already engaged with cross-media formats, auditory projects, and spatial work during their studies. Schell’s musical practice also extends into experimental pop music; she was part of the group FABIAN and released her first solo album earlier this year under the name Desir Vitom. Crasser is active as a DJ and curator in the Leipzig music scene and also performs in improvisation-based band projects such as Service, Ternat, and HTA.
