Techno(logie), Körper und Inklusivität
Bertolt Meyer & Nastassja von der Weiden
QUEER MUSIC FESTIVAL / April 26, 2025
The Queer Music Festival (April 24–27, 2025) shines a spotlight explicitly on queer music and artists who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or non-binary. Under the motto “Identity is Reality!”, the four-day program spans concerts, club nights, dance classes, films, readings, artist talks, and DJ workshops. The central focus is on celebrating and empowering queer identities, queer bodies, and, most importantly, queer music.
As the organizer, heart, and driving force behind the festival, Zacker aims to provide a platform for musicians from the LGBTIQ* community and create a safe space where they can raise their voices to share their artistic visions with like-minded individuals and allies. It’s about raising our voices together—in a time when silence is becoming increasingly dangerous. It’s about visibility—in a time when queer people are once again increasingly fearful for their safety in public spaces.→ www.queermusicfestival.de
Performance & Artist Talk as part of the Queer Music Festival.
Bertolt Meyer is a DJ, musician, label owner, and creates techno in a fascinating and extraordinary way. He doesn’t just use his modular system in the conventional manner – he is actually part of it. Meyer was born without a left forearm. With his “SynLimb” – a DIY hardware hack he built together with Christian Zollner from KOMA Elektronik and his husband Daniel Theiler – Meyer can connect his bionic prosthesis to synthesizers and control parameters of his modular system with his thoughts. It sounds like science fiction and futuristic visions, but it’s real and present.
On this evening, Bertolt Meyer will perform live at ZiMMT, allowing his audience to get up close to his devices and setup, and talk about his artistic work. In conversation with Leipzig music journalist Nastassja von der Weiden, the discussion will also explore whether and how techno(logy) can foster inclusivity and break down stigmas, and of course, how he hacked his prosthesis.
