Cucina povera
Impressed by Tod Dockstader’s Water Music, a technique that uses “everything and the kitchen sink,” Cucina povera is particularly interested in exploring field recordings of water in all its forms, combined with long vocal chants. Always starting from folk singing, she is drawn to the connection between singing and water—the oldest of all salves. Through spatial placement, she aims to connect these two elements in the sound dome in a vivid and deeply healing way.
Behind Cucina povera is the Finnish-Luxembourgish sound artist Maria Rossi. Cucina povera began as a project focused on precarity and nourishment, which has continuously evolved but always follows the same principles of limitation and care.
