The ZiMMT is not only a place for experiencing and creating, but also a space for learning and research. We offer a wide range of educational formats for school classes, students, teachers and other interested groups, which are praxis-oriented, interdisciplinary and adapted to the respective target group.
University collaborations & workshops
We offer a wide range of customised formats for universities and higher education institutions. Among others, the University of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB) and the Cologne University of Music and Dance have already visited ZiMMT, and ZiMMT has conducted workshops with them. In events designed specifically for universities, students were introduced to the ZiMMT’s 3D audio system. Both theoretical and practical aspects were covered. Within the framework of university seminars, such as the composition seminar ‘Space as a Musical Parameter’ at the HMT Leipzig, collaborations with ZiMMT also took place, in which composition students learned how space and 3D audio can function as part of composition.
In addition, the ZiMMT team conducted a two-day workshop on the topic of ‘Architecture & Acoustics’. Participants gained in-depth insights into spatial acoustic concepts, 3D sound and immersive design.
The expertise of the ZiMMT team members, who bring with them a variety of scientific, educational and interdisciplinary perspectives and backgrounds, is a rich resource for scientific collaborations and workshops. Upon request, other workshops with different focuses or formats can be initiated.
Guided tours for school classes and other groups
Whether it’s current exhibitions or a customised tour of our venue, we design guided tours that are educational and encourage exchange. Our buildings and their renovation history are especially interesting for groups keen on architecture. The room acoustics can be particularly inspiring for music and composition students. However, other groups and individuals with different interests are also very welcome!
Workshops & AV-Labor
Our team offers workshops on 3D sound, sound production and related topics. These take place, for example, as part of the monthly AV lab. The difficulty level ranges from beginner to advanced. In addition, the team offers customised workshops for specific groups or events, combining technology, theory and artistic expression in a practical way. The ZiMMT offers an ideal environment for experiential learning.
