#TAKEOFF
Scriabin Code Ensemble & Felix Deufel
AV Concert / 3D Audio / September 25, 2021
#TAKEOFF is a collaboration between the multimedia performance ensemble Scriabin Code, led by clarinetist Martin Albrecht from Worms, and Felix Deufel from ZiMMT e.V.
With the ensemble’s performance concerts, different arts and music genres come together to explore immersive sound concepts, video art, and music compositions, presenting their interplay in practical live concerts. The ensemble investigates the third dimension—following music composition and video art—by incorporating 3D sound and spatializing, the positioning and distribution of sounds in space, to create immersive musical experiences.
#TAKEOFF is the title of an interdisciplinary and multisensory project that evolves gradually with each performance. Here, classical and contemporary music, improvisation, electronics, 3D sound projection techniques, and large-scale live-created or multi-projector grid visuals come together as an experimental Gesamtkunstwerk, closely intertwined.
Musically, the ensemble investigates the core of classical works and develops contemporary compositions through dialogue, including improvisation and electronic sounds. The artists begin with Alexander Scriabin’s Mystic Chord, which forms the core of his compositions and serves as a key concept for unlocking the further reinterpreted pieces from classical modernism. This core acts as a modular toolkit for creating new structures, melodies, harmonies, improvisations, and energy.
The classical pianist Asli Kilic presents the original compositions. As the ensemble joins in live, the new composition unfolds step by step—from smaller motifs to more complex, rhythmic structures, sonic inventions, and spatial movements.
