Immersive sound installation / 61 channels / May 13–22, 2022
Torgauer 80 is a participatory artistic archival project about the history of this site from 1939 to 1945.
Visitors are invited to embark on an individual research journey and approach the multilayered past.
Using radios tuned to various frequencies, they can explore the fates of people connected to this location — a former gear factory — touching on themes of resistance, forced labor, corruption, and everyday life.
These historical documents float through the space like loose threads, able to be interwoven or viewed individually. Through the electromagnetic penetration of radio waves and their physical crossing, the present-day (re)interpretation of the space is actively engaged.
Visitors can determine the length of their stay individually—just as this installation captures only a fragment, visitors can only absorb fragments of the installation.
Archive documents displayed in this space contain symbols and statements of National Socialism. We clearly and unequivocally distance ourselves from these symbols and statements. To avoid altering or whitewashing history, the documents are presented unchanged.
A historical contextualization and classification of the project, which is the first part of a trilogy, will follow. Information will be published on the ZiMMT website.
Jason Langheim
Jason Langheim, a sound artist and composer based in Leipzig, studied media art and design with a focus on electroacoustic composition at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Since 2020, he has worked there as a studio manager at the Experimental Radio professorship. His focus lies on spatial music with conceptual approaches. In his mostly acousmatic compositions, he has recently been exploring the tension between nature and technology.

All:y:Ears 2022
All:y:Ears is the second edition of the concert and sound installation series Drive In, focusing on 3D audio formats. At All:y:Ears, the emphasis is solely on listening—the auditory, spatial experience—giving perception of music and sounds a new, immersive dimension that allows listeners to dive into virtual-acoustic spheres and environments.
The artists work around genres such as experimental electronic music, sound art, electroacoustic and soundscape composition, multimedia art, contemporary music, and experimental jazz.
