SPEKTRUM
SPEKTRUM is an audiovisual project by two Silesian artists – biøs (Jakub Mokrzysiak) and Jakub Stelmach – exploring the intersection of multichannel sound, light, and immersive spatial experience.
At the core of the performance is a series of custom-designed LED objects: hybrid devices functioning simultaneously as installation, instrument, and display. Reacting in real time to generated frequencies and data streams, these luminous structures transform sound into a visible phenomenon, creating a dynamic dialogue between hearing and seeing.
The title SPEKTRUM refers both to the dispersion of light and the spectral representation of sound – revealing hidden structures and enabling audiences to „see“ sonic phenomena. Through the synchronization of spatial audio, light, and live performance, the project creates an environment where physical and perceptual boundaries become fluid.
The project features Fabian Klimanek, a composer, trumpet player, and interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of contemporary music, electroacoustic practices, improvisation, and performance art. A graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, he develops projects that combine acoustic instruments, electronic processing, and audiovisual performance. His work spans ambient, noise, hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary classical music, creating hybrid artistic forms that integrate sound, image, and experimental stage practices.
biøs (Jakub Mokrzysiak) is a Silesia-based music producer, DJ, sound director, and new media artist with over fifteen years of experience. His practice spans electronic music, immersive audio formats, and audiovisual installations. He is the Artistic Director of the Soundscape Foundation and Sound Director at Tonarium – New Media Laboratory (Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice), where he develops interdisciplinary projects combining sound, space, and technology. He has collaborated with the Aukso Orchestra and received a Gold Record for co-producing and mixing Orell by Bass Astral x Igo. His work has been presented at major Polish festivals including Unsound, Audioriver, and Up To Date, while his activities also encompass educational programs, curatorial projects, and commercial productions.
Jakub Stelmach is a new media artist and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Through installations and audiovisual performances, he investigates states of uncertainty and disorientation arising from humanity’s attempts to comprehend the world. Drawing inspiration from scientific research, particularly physics, his work explores the fluid boundary between subjective perception and objective description. His artistic practice reflects on the elusive nature of reality and the limitations of human understanding.
